The SIAC Ontario Chapter was the first Canadian chapter and was formed in 1981 and is now part of a Canadian Association that has four chapters, the others being, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

Membership in the SIAC provides you with an important voice in many aspects of the Scaffold and Access industry in Ontario. This includes the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA) together with active participation from the Construction Safety Association of Ontario (CSAO) and Ministry of Labour.

The Association has six permanent sub committees to address the ongoing activities in Fall Protection, Mast Climbing, Shoring, Scaffold, Swingstage and Powered Elevated Platforms, and also has members that are active in both the CSA and COCA committees.

The Code of Safe Practice for Scaffold and Swingstage document developed by the Scaffold sub committee, is available to all members when they join.

The chapter has developed a very ambitious strategic plan that is an ongoing work in progress, that includes the introduction of our own web site and a commitment to assist with the continuing development of a scaffold training programme for the industry in Ontario in conjunction with the CSAO and the Carpenters Union. Details of the entire strategic plan and the further initiatives can be found on our web site.

As a member of a proactive association you will have the opportunity through your participation to network with other professionals to continue to improve the Scaffold and Access industry in Ontario.
